Why Batana Oil, Why Wild Roatan?
February 13, 2024Before selling Batana Oil products in Australia and New Zealand, Wild Roatan did a variety of things, we ran a small natural product store in Roatan, Honduras, we sold conservation t-shirts to raise money for local environmental projects at community markets, we did local beach clean ups, and today still we are involved in fruit planting tree and community development programs in Roatan, Honduras.
Each year Support Roatan with the help from sponsors such as Wild Roatan plant thousands of fruit trees with local Roatan communities to assist with climate change, deforestation, run-off (which damages the reef) and food security. Favorite local fruit trees include Breadfruit, Soursop, Avocado (island pear), Jackfruit and Guava’s. There is also a great community education program ran with local schools, where each student receives a fruit tree to take home and plant.
We are looking forward to starting some exciting Batana Oil promotional specials in 2024, as we look for new ways to raise funds and support these fruit tree planting and community education programs in Roatan.
From day one when we started Wild Roatan and more recently when we started selling our Batana Oil products here in Australia, we wanted the business to directly contribute to the local economy in Honduras buy selling locally grown and made products, but we also wanted to do a little bit more and be actively involved in conservation, community development and support programs that helped local Honduran’s on a day to day basis.
Our Batana Oil products are made from Honduran Batana, made with Honduran hands and at Wild Roatan we are proudly from Honduras. We grew up using Batana Oil, it could always be found in our home and we are loving sharing our Batana Oil products and experience with you, but also connecting you to people, communities and projects in Honduras.
